Universal Pokemon Randomizer ZX is a free and open source app that allows you to create your own Pokémon game, with all the options and custom elements you want. All you need to do so is the ROM of another Pokémon game (from any of the various Nintendo consoles, it doesn't matter), which will be used as a base to carry out all the modifications that will add personality to your version of the game.

Simple and easy-to-use app

Creating your own version of Pokémon with Universal Pokemon Randomizer ZX is very simple. First, load the ROM by clicking on the button in the upper right corner of the interface. Once you have selected the ROM, the program itself will tell you whether it is an official version or if it has been previously modified, which may result in errors or unexpected behavior. Here, it is advisable to start with a clean ROM. Once you have loaded the ROM, you can start creating the Pokémon version of your dreams. At your disposal you will have an overwhelming number of options.

Your game, your choices

One of the first changes you can make with Universal Pokemon Randomizer ZX is the choice of the three starter Pokémon: you can select any three you like. You'll also be able to change where wild Pokémon appear, as well as the evolution type and initial attributes of each one. All the changes you can implement are neatly sorted into eight categories to make it easier to manage your ROM: Pokémon Characteristics, Starter Pokémon, Moves and Attacks, Enemy Pokémon, Wild Pokémon, Items, Tutors and Miscellaneous Tweaks. In total, you will have more than a hundred settings at your disposal to customize your game experience.

Once you have finished creating the game of your dreams, all you have to do is save the changes and enjoy your creation. Before doing so, it is very important that you give it an appropriate name. After all, you never know if your version of the game will become a real hit with the community. To play your ROM, you will need the appropriate emulator or, failing that, to put the ROM directly into the console you want to play.
